Klokkenluiders en journalisten tegen economische fraude

Een-tweetjes tussen klokkenluiders en journalisten zijn een effectievere manier om economische fraude aan het licht te brengen dan het speurwerk van toezichthouders. Het zijn werknemers die weten wat er echt speelt, niet inspecteurs of onderzoekers. Dit laten inventarisaties van fraudezaken zien. Klokkenluiders kunnen goed bij journalisten terecht: een schandaal verslaan geeft een journalistieke carrière een duw. Daarnaast zijn zij gebaat bij de journalistieke drang naar het publiceren van vervolgverhalen. Tegelijk kunnen klokkenluiders de zaak met bewijs en al bij toezichthouders aanbieden. Een forse beloning is noodzakelijk om werknemers zo ver te kr ijgen. Beloningen voor klokkenluiders vormen de katalysator van dit hele proces. Een beloning van een paar ton of een paar miljoen lijkt misschien veel, maar het vormt een schijntje vergeleken met het voortdurend geld ploegen in vleugellamme toezichthouders.
